Watch Hollywood Vampire’s New Video for “Heroes”
Hollywood Vampires have released a video for their cover of David Bowie classic “Heroes.”
The new version was recorded in Hansa Studios in Germany, just like the 1977 original, and features lead vocals from Johnny Depp.

Unlike the band’s 2015 self-titled debut album, new LP Rise – which arrives on June 21 – contains mostly original material, with much of the lyrical content created by Depp and sung by Alice Cooper. “The funny thing is, I’m not doing any writing on it,” Cooper told UCR last year. “Johnny Depp, Joe Perry [and] Tommy Henriksen have written almost 90 percent of it. I come in and do a little surgery on the lyrics. But it’s interesting for me to be singing about Johnny’s angst.”
He continued: “But I wanted it that way. It stretches me a little bit, because I have to listen to the lyrics and go, ‘Oh, okay, I see what he’s saying here.’ For once, I’m not really doing all of my songs … every once in a while you have to do something else that makes you uncomfortable. That’s a good thing. … Art should always stretch you.”
When the LP was announced, Cooper confirmed he had wound up contributing material. “Rise is not only a totally different animal than the first Vampires album, it is unique to anything I’ve ever been a part of,” he said. “Each of us – Joe, Johnny, Tommy, and myself – have written songs on this album. What is different, though, is that I didn’t try to change any songs to be more ‘Alice-like.’ Because each of us has different influences, the sound of this album is very cool. I think that with this album, we are establishing what the Vampires’ sound really is, whereas with the first album, we were more tipping our hats to our fallen rock ‘n’ roll brothers.”
