At about noon today, Alice Cooper delivered the Graduation Commencement Speech to 600 rowdy and dangerous graduates from The Musician's Institute in Los Angeles. He opened by joking "First of all, the fact that I am here as your keynote speaker raises a lot of red flags. It show's an obvious lack of judgment on your part."
Alice also received an Honorary Doctorate from The Musician's Institute, the second Doctorate award he has received in his career. Cooper said of the honor, "One more of these and I can write prescriptions".
Other key words from his speech:
"Mediocrity is your greatest enemy".
"If you're going to be in this business, don't be afraid to go out on that limb as far as you can".
"If you succeed you become a genius, if you fail you become an idiot. You can always start again".
"Apparently chickens don't fly as much as they plummet".
"Elvis said to me 'Hey man yer that cat with the makeup and the snakes. That's cool man I dig that'. "
"So there I was with a loaded snub nose Smith and Wesson 38 aimed at Elvis Presley. The little devil on my shoulder said 'Kill em'. The angel the other shoulder said 'No just wound him'... "

Your biggest french fan!
That's the coolest! I came here because, who knows why, I was thinking of a PSA Alice did a while back. I can't find it anywhere. It was him in suberbia talking about the importance of education to some guy checking his mail. The punchline was him saying to the guy, "You wouldn't want your kid to grow up to be a weird-o, would you?" I want to show it to my 15 year old because she loves what our local DJ plays on "Mullet Mondays". And that includes my dear Alice. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and where to find it, please let me know. I'm on G+ Tracy Smith, or wearywaitress@hotmail. Thanks! Oh! And congrats, Alice!

Congratulations Doctor Alice! Proof once again that those studio
created wannabes can't hold a candle to those who actually work at the craft!
Awesome
Doctor Cooper, I like what you said "If you're going to be in this business, don't be afraid to go out on that limb as far as you can". You are so right. I don't think we use our minds to the fullest. My father told me "You can do anything you want in life. If you thought of it, you can do it..."
Congratulation on receiving an Honorary Doctorate!
