KC - Alice's Assistant
My name is KC, I'm Alice's assistant on and off the road. I haven't always been an assistant for Alice, I was originally a guitar tech and sort of jumped over to the assistant position when the need for a full time guy came about. Now my days on tour is full of a wide variety of activities… Here's a run down of my typical show day: Early AM Golf, after that shopping, then lunch, then hotel, interviews, nap, travel to venue, set up Alice's wardrobe & dressing room, prep for my own gags in the show, do the show, after show meet and greets, dinner (maybe), then tape a radio show with Chuck, then bed at around 1 or 2am… Then it's up again at whenever we arrive at the next hotel, usually around 6am to do it all over again. It's really an all day every day job so there's no REAL day off, but there is a little down time every now and then. Those are the slow days, but at least I don't have to push cases around all day anymore like the real road guys.
So, about the tour… We're here in Ottawa, Ontario for a day off before our second Canadian show, which will be the third show of the tour. Our first two shows went great, especially when you remember that we have 3 new band members and several new stage gags. Here's what we've been up to for the last few weeks…
We had a week of band rehearsals in Nashville, where the guys got used to playing with each other, worked with Bob Ezrin to really iron out their parts and come up with the right setlist. Drummer Glen Sobel, Guitarists Tommy Henriksen and Steve Hunter all more than surprised everyone as the band sounded like a "band" almost right away.
We also spent some time tweaking some new stage props, most notably a new monster which was designed by Distortions Unlimited, who provided the props for the "Brutal Planet" tour. If you haven't already seen video of the new show, do your self a favor and avoid watching it until you can see it live for yourself. The new monster is… well, a monster!
Anyway, last week we moved over to the Horseshoe Casino in Elizabeth, IN to do full production rehearsals for the tour. There were some hiccups, but for the most part things came together smoothly and our first show went off without a hitch.
Quebec's show last night was even better, and it's easy to tell that the band is getting comfortable. Alice seemed to think that the setlist was solid, though he thinks there might be room at the end for a surprise. We'll see what happens tomorrow in Ottawa.
OH, and one more thing! Supporting us on this Canadian run is the band Anvil! If you haven't seen them live, they are killer! Great guys. They made a movie a while back, which is the truly inspiring story of their band, their true rock n roll spirit and their unending drive for success at any cost. Anyone into Rock N Roll should see it!
That's all for now, I'm expecting Alice back at the hotel any minute so duty calls!

And make sure you've got the Skittles well stocked. ;)
Good Luck KC. Miss you Ren. Do good dude, you've got big shoes to fill.
Saw the Sylvania/Toledo show Saturday. What a wet and wonderful show. I left during the encore, so who was the 4th guitarist? Anyone know?
In 1989, I went to see Alice at the Hohenstaufenhalle in Goeppingen, in 1991, in Frankfurts Festhalle, in 2000 in Bruchsal and Esslingen, in 2001 in Berlin, and 2006 Christmas Pudding in Phoenix.
Ive had to move again, unfortunately, I dont find any reference to Alice coming to Lafayette, or even Louisiana, since 1998. Im hoping that changes soon.
Hey KC thanks for the news, I will be waiting for more. :)
Will Alice be coming to London, UK? Really would love to see one of his shows again :)
Hey KC thanks for the news. I will be keeping an eye out for more news :)
Will Alice be coming to London, UK? He is here for the Donington Festival but would really like to go to his own show.
Please come to London Alice
Kyler,
It was great to meet you at the show in Sylvania, Ohio last night. Thanks for the excellent balloon toss instruction and the great photo angles ;) The show was awesome (and not just because I got to be a part of it). I recommend everyone sees this show if they have the opportunity. Enjoy the rest of the tour!

KC: Congrats on your new job! It must be alot of fun getting killed onstage by whatever mayhem Alice has up his sleeve. I am a long time fan who is looking forward to his return this Saturday in T-Town. The last time Alice played this venue the stageshow was outstanding and Alice KICKED @$#! I was wondering if you guys needed a fourth for golf on Sunday morning? I will be in the 7th row center on the aisle and would love to see the Golf Monster in action. I am anticipating a great show as usual and hopefully get to meet you guys on Saturday.
Best of Luck and God Bless

Hi there,
My name is Andrea Balfour and I am in Halifax, NS...
On Thursday I found out that my husband cheated on me AGAIN last year, even though he knew it would rip my family up. She was ugly with a pimple problem...uggh. So, I ousted him on facebook so everyone knew what a squirmin dog he was and let him see it when he got home from work.
Well, he says he adores me and he's sorry, I think it's just cause he got caught. This is where you and the show might come in. You see, I am not a victim...I have some pals flying my out to leave his ass to worry and will be at the casino tomorrow night to see my beloved Alice Cooper.
Seeing I believe that living well is the best revenge and I have been Alice Cooper's biggest fan and seen every concert since 74...including the riot (he kinda owes me for that one as it was the only time I managed to get floor seats) lol.
Please ask him if there is any way possible for me to just say hello to him tomorrow night and get a picture hugging him...so that I can post it on my facebook so my friends don't worry and so that my husband does. I believe in miracles and Alice has been a big part of my life and hope there is a chance if you present this to him today. I could really use a friend in him, to not be a victim and to show my husband what he's losing.
This has been such a sad week for me, a moment of happy would be wonderful right about now and I think his fans would love him for it. I can be at the casino for 6:30.
You can reach me at 902-449-4514 anytime today.
Hope Alice is the kick ass fella I think he is.
Thanks,
Andrea
So, the assistant to the Master of Mayhem?
I'm jealous! My wife and kids say that I'm such a huge fan of
Alice they refer to him as my boyfriend. Gotta laugh.
I'm 50, soon to be 51, and well, amazed at what Alices has done and continues to do. Hope he comes to Florida so I can see the latest show.
People GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to the SHOWWWWWWWWWWWW,, i went to hamilton on tuesday... in the 40 years seeing Alice, he out does himself, for sure. Amazing , best ever. wow......... tight band, great voice. fun props. Im near Toronto ( oshawa ), but will go to Buffalo in August, remember the Coop. cheers,, dont miss this show!!!!!
Hi KC,
thx fr the update. Great work. Good to see Alice got an assistant again. All the best!
I know that Alice is a golf addicted (I've read his book) and I would like to know where he will play when he is in São Paulo, Brazil next month.
I'm Alice's and golf fan and I'm a director of a golf club close to São Paulo. So if any of you would like to play you are my guests.
Take care
Hey Alice can't wait to see you at casino rama this friday hope the show goes well for you.
Take care
Bruce
Hey KC,
I am sure you have your hands full being the assistant. Do you play golf also?
I am looking forward to the show on Friday night at Rama. After waiting 10 hours in line i got Front Row. This is a surprise for my boyfriends 50th birthday. He is a Virgin when it comes to seeing Alice Cooper, LOL, while i have seen him many times, my first being his Riot in Toronto!! LMFAO
If there are any spots available for a meet and greet that would be great as i live only 15 minutes away and am available anytime or if Alice can say Happy Birthday Ron Taylor while on stage, that would be the most Awesomist present and i would get a few point also
Thank you in advance and hope the weather and gold is good while you are in the area
Also caught the Ottawa show. Amazing! Incredible! What a rare treat to hear Halo of Flies live. I Loved it!
I just got home from the Ottawa show ... WOW!!!! This was my fourth time seeing Alice live, and as usual it rocked! The set list changed a bit from previous years. I was disappointed that Dwight Fry didn't show up tonight, but the other additions were great. Glen Sobel did an AMAZING job on Halo of Flies ... The guitar intro needs some work, but its only 3 shows in .... AWESOME SHOW!!!!
Thank you for the update I am very excited to see you in Sudbury on Wednesday! I'm the girl in the frilly cupcake looking dress :P
have a good show :)
Hey KC thanks for the news, I will be waiting for more, keep on the good work.
how did Renfield die? why such a cover up? i think that alice should be honest with his fans.
I happen to know that KC is a great guy who will move heaven and earth for Alice and his fans :-)
Hey now!
I attended the Quebec City show on may 14. I've been a Cooper fan for years, collected the CDs, LPs and DVDs. I know all of the songs by heart, I seen every show on DVD. But last saturday was the first time that I saw the ICON in person live!
That was the greatest expreriance ever!
I went there with friends that never realy listened to Alice Cooper. Today, they are fans!
I especially liked the live version of one of my favorites, "Clones (We're all)". Changing the keyboards with a guitar riff makes the song sound actual. Also, the new song, "Bite your face off" is realy catchy and could be the highlight of Cooper's next nightmare album.
Can somebody tell me if the live recordings of this tour will be made available for download?
Is Alice bringing this show to Melbourne Aust?
Would love to see him again,
Last 2 times we saw Alice in Australie, my wife was 7 months pregnant both times, so my two little girls have been indoctrinated into the world of Alice from an early age..
Can't wait to see the next show.
Hi KC, Thanks for the information.....My husband and I have been long time cooper fans, back in grade school i won a trophy for best dance to schools out, dressed as Alice. Took our then 18 year old son 2 years ago to civic center to see him and my girlfriend last year to Bellville. Kerri Kelly and Eric Singer will be missed this tour. Glad Damon and Chuck are still there. It's my 48th Birthday today and my husband and I will be there tonight front and floor seats. Happy Birthday to Chuck also and maybe a tribute to Ronnie James Dio? RIP. Anyway's congrats on the new job and look forward to rockin tonight with all, Oh yes Anvil swam in my pool after a rockin party back in the 80's at the Chaudierre Club.....Lips back then.
See you all tonight!!!
Tracy and Mark Baker
sadly,brian passed on,as stated above.
Detroit Alice fan: unfortunately, Renfield passed away in 2009.
The Sick Things mailing list is still around. You can subscribe at the bottom of this page:
Just wondering what happened to Brian "Renfield" Nelson? Also, bring back the "Sick Things" mail list of the mid to late 90's! Keep up the good work KC, I am sure Alice appreciates it even more than the fans do!
Gave me a stitch when a guy up there asked if Renfield retired. Rest in peace, Brian, and rest at ease, looks like your work is in good hands now with our KC here.
Good luck KC and hope to meet you soon on tour. Thanks for giving us an update, looking forward to more. :)
KC, you are a lucky man enjoy these times. Alice has been my main rock star from the very beging, I am from Detroit City-enough said.
Best wishes and good luck
Love you Cooper!

Hey KC;
I have tickets to see Alice tomorrow night for me & my son Matthew for his 16th birthday. Matthew has no idea he is seeing Alice tomorrow as it is a sweet 16 birthday surprise from his ma!
If there is any opportunity for Alice to do a sweet 16 birthday shout out to him Matthew would be thrilled (again he has no idea, he thinks he is going out for a boring supper with his mother).
If there is a chance of a meet and greet, it would be a birthday he would never forget.
Can't to see the show tomorrow and glad to hear that everything is going well.
Take care,
Jennifer
Alice is here now?!??! Holy moly!! I am taking my ten year old daughter to see Alice in Ottawa. We are both psyched beyond belief!! Any last minute spots on the guest list? Meeting Alice would just blow her mind!!!
Good luck on the tour!!
Damn...I ran into Alice at the St.Laurent Shopping Centre in Ottawa earlier today!
I was standing around with my infant daughter (in her stroller) when he approached me and gave my girl some coochie-coo faces and told me "I like her hair". I said "thanks" and he smiled back...when I saw his face I thought to myself "WHOA, this guy looks just like Alice Cooper!", and then he left and dissapeared into the crowd.
The whole day it was bugging me. . .did I actually had a face-to-face with The Godfather of Rock n' Roll and All Things AWESOME, and didn't even realize it?
So, I got home with my wife and baby a few hours later, googled this blog, and learned that he's in town.
Yeah, totally feel stupid that I actually had a wicked awesome casual conversation with ALICE FRICKIN' COOPER, who made coochy-coo faces to my 9 month old daughter and made her smile. . .and I didn't even acknowledge his awesomeness!
The thing is, Alice was so cool and casual and easygoing when we had our brief convo, I thought nothing of it. I just thought it was some guy who REALLY REALLY REALLY looked like him!
I guess I should have gone with my gut instinct and had the courage to ask him. . .I've grown up listening to his records, after all!
Well anyways, I've posted an apology of sorts on his Facebook wall but here's my apology on this blog too in case he doesn't read his wall posts too often.
Alice: So really really really SORRY for not acknowleding your awesomeness. You obviously seem to like keeping a casual easygoing profile (re: no entourage at all), but awesomeness must always be recognized when it's in our presence.
But more importantly, thanks so much for taking a moment of your time to make my baby girl smile, and tell me you like her hair. That was AWESOME.
Have a great time in Ottawa!
Your fan (who unfortunately did not know it was you all along until it was too late),
Eric Samson (and baby Alexandra)
