The two made a stop in St. Charles at the Family Arena on Thursday on the 2nd“Gruesome Twosome” Tour which featured the two co-headlining.

But I had to agree with the guy I overheard as I was walking out of the general admission crowd in front of the stage – “I can’t believe Alice Cooper is opening for Rob Zombie.”

Slash summed up Cooper’s influence this way: “Alice Cooper was the first ever to marry rock ’n’ roll with dramatic horror theatrics. For 40 years he’s made fantastic records and equally fantastic live performances. And still to this day he’s the best at his craft bar none. Often imitated but never duplicated.”

Not only did the platinum artist release his latest concert DVD, "The Theatre of Death," but he also kicked off another Halloween Hootenanny Tour with co-headliner Rob Zombie. And there was a bit of news from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which nominated the shock-rock artist for its class of 2011. A decade and a half after first being eligible, Cooper maintains his sense of humor when it comes to finally being considered Rock Hall-worthy.

The godfather of shock rock finally received a long overdue nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when the 15 nominees were announced earlier this week. Last night at Los Angeles' Gibson Amiptheater, Cooper and longtime friend Rob Zombie kicked off their Halloween Hootenanny Tour, a must for any fan of big rock spectacles.
