News : Johnny Depp & Alice Cooper on Stage @ 100 Club Last Night!
WHAT A NIGHT! Alice played a blistering set full of classics and covers by his favorite bands. It was a rare night, with "Alice" taking a back seat to Vincent, as Coop let his legendary stage persona take a break for the evening.
Here's the setlist from last night...
Train Kept A Rollin' (Some of you may be aware that Steve Hunter played lead on Aerosmith's version)
Under My Wheels
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Is It My Body
Brown Sugar
I'll Bite Your Face Off (Which is a brand new track from Alice's upcoming Welcome 2 My Nightmare)
Muscle Of Love
Cold Ethyl
Billion Dollar Babies
Back In The USSR
Poison
You Really Got Me
I'm Eighteen (Featuring Johnny Depp, making the total number of guitar players an incredible 4!)
Schools Out (With Johnny as well)
Elected
We Gotta Get Out Of This Place (Which is a cover that will also be released on Alice's new Welcome 2 My Nightmare)
Fire
Alice decided to keep the stage antics to a minimum last night, but he still brought out his old slithery friend Kachina, the 6 foot Boa. He also had on hand a few canes, riding crops and of course the classic Alice Cooper $100 Bills.
When it came time for Johnny Depp to make his surprise entrance, Alice introduced him as Johnny D from Ken-Tuck-EE! It took a little while for everyone to figure out who it was, because the most persistent rumor was that Alice would be joined by Guns N Roses guitarist Slash. Slash posted on his twitter page that he was on his way to London for an impromptu surprise performance, so the logic was there, but everyone was wrong!
Depp played lead on "I'm Eighteen", trading tasty licks with Veteran Alice Guitarist's Damon Johnson and Steve Hunter. Bassist Chuck Garric and Depp seemed like old buddies up there, the three stage right guitarists were laughing and clearly enjoying themselves. New Alice Cooper guitarist Tommy Henriksen, producer Bob Ezrin's hand picked guitarist for Alice's new band, held down the fort on stage left with Steve Hunter while drummer Glen Sobel blew everyone's mind!
Johnny is in London working on the new Tim Burton movie "Dark Shadows", and Alice is rumored to have a cameo part in the film as well...

I was lucky enough to be there, was a great night. I have seen Alice 3 times now, got my tickets for this Halloween's show at Alexandra Palace, however this was the best show I have ever seen. Such a tiny venue and you could feel the vibe...Thanks Vincent for coming out, what a show!
no way that it awful how could u do this
Wow. I been wondering for decades why he never did an CD called "Alice in Wonderland" (Think of what he do with the stage show). If he is in Dark Shadows though the part almost would ceartainly have to be Barnabus Collins. And if the do a movie of his life story they need to put in the untimate irony - when he checks into the psycho ward!
me parece indignante....es un robo...que digais q venis a españa....y despues a una seman del concierto lo canceleis...es una gran putada la que le has hecho a tus fans españoles
XD come on!!! PLZ MR. COOPER COME BACK TO ST.LOUIS THATS THE ONLY PLACE I CAN GO TO SEE A SHOW!!! lol OH and if you do, bring Johnny??????
I don't know what Alice's role may be in the new Dark Shadows film but may I make a suggestion in case no one has thought of it:
THE REVERAND TRASK!
I don't know if Alice will read this but if someone could get that idea to him or Tim Burton or even Johnny Depp, but if 'the powers that be' would just consider this idea for a moment? Think of the potential! It'd be more than just a cameo. Of course, the story would also have to involve time-travel but since when was that ever a problem for the original series? 'TPTB', just think on this! Please?!
What a trip...It was pretty amazing to discover Johnny Depp playing along side Alice Cooper!!! I have been begging for some footage of Mr. Depp indulging on the electric horse...what a treat!!! Even better to see him walking on the wild side with such legend...Rock on!!!
Hey, Alice...on the album after "W2MN", you should just go "CRAZY". (ala' Ozzy's "I Just Want You" song). Every song, just weird nothing experimentation--let it flow, but with good grooves. Disregard all conventions (except for being catchy). Like a musical Bosch painting. Dali. Surreality. I think that freedom would sound great; colors would taste phenomenal. Sick Things take over the world.
Some masterpieces have been written that way, actually. By removing the 'target' (end idea) and just going off and exploring.
Just a thought.
I saw the Depp photo on Twitter yesterday and posted to my blog the old photos I did of Johnny Depp as Alice Cooper (back when I sent them to Alice, his management, everybody...) in hopes of getting Depp to play Alice in a bio-pic film (like Val Kilmer did Jim Morrison in The Doors movie). There just needs to be a really good 2-hour film with Alice Cooper songs, that tells the story of the whole thing, from the talent show through to the breakup, the solo career, ups, downs, the Hall of Fame award and the reunion (at least recording of material for the W2MN album). It would be really cool.
Anyway, here are the photos in my blog (for a little while--probably won't leave 'em too long). http://eyeamsmf.blogspot.com/2011/06/johnny-depp-as-alice-cooper.html
