News : ALICE COOPER to Headline Cropredy 2013 in UK
That's right folks. American rock icon Alice Cooper will headline the opening day of Fairport's Cropredy Convention on Thursday 8 August 2013. It is expected to be Cooper's only UK public appearance during the year.
Alice Cooper's legendary stagecraft and showmanship will mean a uniquely theatrical rock extravaganza for 20,000 fans at our three-day Oxfordshire music festival.
Peggy says: "We've been hoping to get Alice to Cropredy for years and at last the work calendars have coincided. Alice is one of rock music's great originals and his live shows are pure entertainment with their great combination of rock, theatricality and breathtaking staging. But at the end of the day it's the music that counts at Cropredy and Alice has produced some of the most accomplished and exciting rock of the past four decades."
"We are sure our audience will be blown away by Alice Cooper," Peggy continues, "Rock acts always go down well with the Cropredy crowd - just ask Status Quo, for example."
With numerous platinum discs, sold-out tours and dozens of awards, Rock N Roll Hall of Famer Cooper's unique body of work extends over forty years and more than two dozen albums. He is best known for bringing horror imagery to rock'n'roll on a cinematic scale - however, the bizarre and dark theatrical themes are always underpinned by finely-honed guitar-driven rock'n'roll with a heavy metal edge.

I hope Alice might like to get some Golf in at Nailcote Hall when he is playing here. It is the same week that we hokd the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship which Tony Jacklin hosts and we are only 45 minutes away !He would have so much fun playing the course which Brian Barnes reckons is better than Augusta's Par 3 track and meeting up with all the Pro's that are competing. All the best Rick Cressman
This is fantastic! I've already bought my tickets to Cropredy; I've been there every year of my life. Just found out Alice Cooper is headlining, because I forget to check the website and find out who it would be, and am extremely excited!! This will be amazing! Ah, I'm really happy. I'll get to see Alice Cooper live in concert! :D:D At Cropredy, which is already the highlight of my year! :)
Why is Alice doing a Folk Festival?
No Download, Sonnisphere? huh?
Only U.K gig in 2013.... What is going on?
Halloween will not be the same this year
Maybe Fairport Convention can play at Monsters Of Rock in return ... would be as fitting :S
If you ask Fairport they will insist that Cropredy is not just a 'folk festival' although it clearly has leanings in that direction. It's a MUSIC Festival, and why wouldn't Alice be there ?
there is no Sonnisphere at Knebworth for the last year or so... of course :P
Tickets are Thurs/Fri/Sat or Fri/Sat or Sat. You Cannot buy Thursday only tickets. But what the heck....Enjoy 3 days of an amazing festival.
Afraid you can't buy 'Thursday only' tickets for Cropredy, so the only way to see Alice would be on a 3-day ticket - lots of other good stuff on though
Hey, just thought I'd reply. :D You can just buy one-day tickets for Cropredy; people normally do in order to see the headliners. :) I've gone to Fairport's Cropredy Convention every year since I was born (my mum loves them and I've inherited that), and am so excited that Alice Cooper will be there! :)
You can buy a one day ticket for saturday but NOT for thursday or friday!!! NOT HAPPY!!!
Seems to me that the promoter here is trying to boost early ticket sales! Coop usually makes a couple trips a year to the U.K. and Europe......Its too early to panic folks, "the Lord above can see ya"
James Dean
Please Alice, come to Poland!
You are very welcome!
" It is expected to be Cooper's only UK public appearance during the year." - now that is real bad news. Very few UK dates in 2012 left lots of fans disappointed - 2013 looks the to be even worse for the fans. Very poor if this is the case and a real kick in the teeth for us UK fans. Keep an eye out for Dennis Dunaway on tour with a few dates in the UK in 2013. Mr Dunaway looks likely to be getting my hard earned £'s this year. Fingers crossed that the Cooper folks have a change of heart and cross the pond to the UK.
Lots of fans disappointed in 2012? As far as I could see lots of tickets were available several weeks after dates were announced.Kick in the teeth? I don't think so
This is great. I had a chance to see the Great one in San Francisco at the Warfield in November - the show (as always) was fantastic. I also had the incredible pleasure of speaking with him after the show - let me tell you (as you all know) - Alice is the real deal, a rock icon, and one of the nicest people you'd ever hope to meet. What a great dude! Man, I've been a fan for 30+ years, and it's no mistake. I can't say enough, but then, I guess you got that. Alice, as always, waiting for the next show and album! It just gets better. Thanks and bless Alice for his ROCK and all the other GREAT things he does! His place in Phoenix for disadvantaged kids is truly a great thing. This is a GREAT man. Thanks Alice, for everything!
Alice truly has a heart of gold, and he's the greatest entertainer in the world. His shows are amazing. I can hardly wait to see his concert tour lineup for this year, and hope he will be coming someplace within driving distance of my home so I can go see him again (hopefully more than once!)
lucky you, you've been to one. i just have to wait until alice comes back to atlanta to see him
