News Item : Slash Says Alice Cooper is Still the Best
Some of Alice Cooper’s friends have been praising the newly nominated Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee, in statements made available by Cooper’s representatives.
Slash summed up Cooper’s influence this way: “Alice Cooper was the first ever to marry rock ’n’ roll with dramatic horror theatrics. For 40 years he’s made fantastic records and equally fantastic live performances. And still to this day he’s the best at his craft bar none. Often imitated but never duplicated.”
Mike Myers, who in the guise of Wayne Campbell famously attended a Cooper concert in the “Wayne’s World” movie, had this to say: “Historians may say of Alice Cooper that his theatrical, teenage angst anthems are the connective tissue between The Beatles and punk rock. I would simply say ‘I’m not worthy! I’m not worthy!’”
Neil Gaiman, author of such dark-themed works as “Coraline,” “American Gods,” “The Graveyard Book” and the “Sandman” comic series called Cooper “A true original – the dark showman of rock. And Alice Cooper, the group that he fronted, was one of the great, mean, shark-sharp rock and roll bands. It’s about time that they were honored. And you know, we really aren’t worthy.”
Last week, Alice Cooper responded to the news of the nomination with some humble, heartfelt words of gratitude. On behalf of bandmates Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith, Michael Bruce and Glen Buxton, Cooper pointed out that they’d begun life as a band simply seeking to “meet girls and drink free beer,” and he marveled that he was now in a position to share Hall of Fame honors with such personal heroes as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, The Who, The Yardbirds and Chuck Berry.

Finally light has been shed on the topic that fans had since found a travisty. This should have happened years ago. I read the requirements of the RRHOF and Alice has fit it perfectly for decades. Horrah for the nomination at last. I am so happy to be able to see THE rock and roll villain get his notice.
It must be fun to get paid to play halloween all year long and I say this admiringly of course! If anyone deserves to be acknowledged as a pioneer of pushing the shock=value envelope no need to look any further! In this crazed place we know as life ,entertainers like yourself take the edge off , make us appreciate what we work so hard for! Congradulations, Mr. nice guy
Alice Cooper has rocked my world since Easy Action. The peace and love bands of the 60's bored me after a while. Even then I was into horror comic books, and movies. Alice Cooper was right up my alley, a dark, scary, dangerous, dirty alley, almost making the Stones look safe and wholesome. Alice is the perfect rock and roll villian on stage and the nicest, most humble, normal guy off stage. His songs have been consistantly great and most have stood the test of time. I met Alice and shook his hand at an autograph session at a haunted house he was involved with, and got another autograph at the grand opening of Coopers Town in Denver, he signed every item his fans handed to him. Alice Cooper is a legend, and icon the originator of theatrical rock and is still unequaled. I'm a 50 year old rock and roll misfit. Since I was 4 years old, even in 64 the Beatles looked too safe for me. After Brian Jones died the Stones lost some of their edge. Alice took it to the next level. especially with his original band then beyond that. He is the King of shock rock and I never get tired of his music. Thanks Alice for saving us from the Bee Gees and John Denver's of the world. KISS, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and Zodiac Mindwarp should all kiss Alice's ring as none of us are worthy. As for the Rock and Roll hall of fame, It's about time, actually long past time, dumb asses. Ozzy may be the Prince of Darkness, and I love him too, but Alice is King. Long live the king! Looking forward to seeing him on tour again with another great band, showing the newbies how it's done. His show Nights With Alice Cooper is always entertaining, interesting, informative, and cool, an encyclopedia of rock knowlage. Thank God, Cheryl, and all others involved for getting him off the booze that would have killed him long ago, as it did so many others in the buisness. Thank you Alice for over 40 years of ass kicking songs that have pretty much been the soundtrack of my life. Your loyal fan, Craig Thomas
He deserves to be there (as does Kiss), he is the master.
i just have to say that Alice Cooper is a sweet loving guy who trulely understands what msuic is about. He also understands his fan and i can relate to every song he has out there.IN fact i have 3 hrs worth of his music on my computer alone and im slways calling my local calssic rock station to play more of him.
Alice your awesome and really connect with people.U make a big difference in pps lives rather they tell u or not.U keep up the great work and keep rocking on my friend.
sincerly,
KAthy York
For all of those Kiss fans complaining that their boys aren't in yet, without Alice, Kiss would have had to come up with their own act. Rock on, Alice! You should have been in the Hall fifteen years ago!
"I want to go see Alice Cooper" I told my mom twenty years ago as a ten year old boy. My mother looked at me as if I had pooped in my pants right in front of her face. Needless to say my mom always had a rocker heart, Im pretty sure I was concieved at a supertramp concert, while my Dad had a broken leg. Anyways I went to the Fox Theatre in St. Louis and I stood on the arms of the chair to see over all of the full grown human beings in front of me. What I seen that night changed my life. The theatrical show that was put on made me forget I was at my frist ever concert watching a guy that had been around twenty years to that day. I felt like I was in the middle of a horror movie and the star was a man by the name of Alice Cooper.
I went on to purchase all of the catalog of Alice cooper, and became a drummer because of the song Billion Dollar Babies. I have seen the horror movie known as Alice cooper 9 times now in St. Louis, and the show last night at The Family Arena on October 7th was a classic.
It almost seemed like Alice was in the best shape and had the crispest voice I have ever heard since that day twenty years ago. The show itself was phenomanal and to the max with the theatrics. The band played as if they were the orignal band from forty years ago.Never missing a beat and never missing a note.
I just want to say thank you for every hour to two hours that i get to dissapear into this horror movie known as Alice Cooper. You will never truly know how much it means to me.
He might never see this message, but thank you Alice.
your sick thing
