News Item : Gods Of Rock Are Rolling On

ROCK'S old guard were out in force in London last night.

SLASH, ALICE COOPER, RONNIE WOOD, TONI IOMMI and JOHN PAUL JONES were among the riff-happy warriors at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour awards. And they're all far from poised to hang up their leathers as we approach 2011.

Alice is planning a musical with NOEL FIELDING - in which he'll play the Brit comic's uncle. He was all smiles on the red carpet, proudly boasting that his wife would "wipe the floor" with the Strictly Come Dancing contestants he recently performed for.

Slash revealed VELVET REVOLVER are back up and running following ex-frontman SCOTT WEILAND'S walk-out. He said: "We've got about three more frontmen to audition. "We'll get it sorted in the next month or so. It's pretty exciting."

John Paul Jones was also basking in the prospect of forthcoming projects. And he teased fans by refusing to rule out a LED ZEPPELIN reunion tour. He also vowed THEM CROOKED VULTURES - also featuring DAVE GROHL and JOSH HOMME - would be heading back into the studio at some point. He added: "I've always said I'll only ever play in the best bands. And so far I've achieved that."
