Blog : No More Mr Nice Blog - Poison??

As many of you know, Alice Cooper was forced to cancel his first show in 30 years last night! Alice got food poisoning somewhere on our trip between Phoenix, Mexico City and Santiago. We had a long layover in Mexico City, where he was feeling fine. Once we were on the plane to Santiago after an 8 hour layover in Mexico City, Alice started to feel ill. He didn't sleep the entire flight, so naturally when we arrived in Santiago he was feeling fairly zombieish. He was unable to sleep at the hotel all day, even after a visit from local Dr. Phillips (who I heard as Dr Feelgood as he introduced himself!). We got him on some medication and put him to bed, which is where he stayed until this morning.
I spoke with him a little bit ago, and he is feeling almost 100% better, though he is still pretty weak, which confirms that it was food poisoning and not some bug.
Naturally Alice HATES to cancel shows, and let me tell you he agonized over the decision for hours. In the end, he was simply too weak to get out of bed, much less do a 90 minute, high energy show.
As I went to bed last night, I thought about the fact that Alice hadn't cancelled a show due to illness in 30 years... That's about as long as I've been ALIVE! How many people can say they haven't taken a sick day in 30 years?? Pretty impressive.
At any rate, Alice is feeling better, we're on our way and he is looking forward to the show in Buenos Aires, Argentina tomorrow!

Glad to hear of the illness leaving you quickly. A consumate professional such as yourself is allowed a day off every so often - once in 30 years. (I was at you last "day off" in Toronto). Hope your completely "re-Cooper-ated". Break a leg.
That's so bad :( I really hope he get better soon! anyway I'm sad, I hope see someday an Alice Cooper show, I remember some years ago I buy my ticket here in Chile too and the show was canceled days before the concert so it's the second time for me :(

Glad you're feeling better today. Missing one day in 30 years is amazing. Food poisoning sucks, literally feels like it sucks the life out of a person. We've all had it, some of us have had it several times throughout a life time. Alice don't be so hard on yourself, you're the King of Old School, and your fans stand by your side hoping for speedy recovery. Take for example the broken ribs, and you continued your show. Far more serious an injury, yet you didn't stop. This had to be debilitating, and it happens. Theres no reason you should be on stage and risk pooping your pants, although that might have been a first lol. Rest well, and don't sweat it. Hugs.

I'm very glad he's feeling better now... honestly last nite I hated him cuz they told us the show was cancelled when we were waiting out of the theater. but anyway, I hope he come back to chile someday

having Alice Cooper to be part of my life since a were a child then 40 years way back I've always believed in he'll never fall apart of it. I'm nearly in the 50's right now and Alice's older than me 15 years. So as I want to get 96 old Alice got to be 111.
To hear he felt ill made me more to express my prayers and thougths for him.

Ok, if anyone's reading this, I still have the tickets for the Alice Cooper concert that was supposed to be in Santiago.
I understand if Alice falls ill, it can happen, so no complaints there, but I do hope he comes to Chile some other time in the near future, maybe a trip just to Chile wouldn't be justified money wise, so I don't know how longer I'll have to wait to hear him live, but if there's the possibility, it'd be great, everyone in Chile is waiting for him.

Hey Alice...I wouldn't sweat it...everyone Knows you're old school.You don't cancel unless really sick(unlike some bands i know who cancelled cause the lead singer is a baby,and argues with security,or the ticket vendor...and even waled off stage!! oh, poisoning by food is very painful, weak maker, dangerous, sometimes lethal; please mr Assitant, give Alice good EVIAN water and deluke food for he recover his health; good courage! we wait for you in France, you will have good food there!
I have wish to go to and Alice concert since 95 but my fathers don't let me then cause i was to little (just 9 years then) .
Ever since then here in chile one of my dreams is wait to the oportunity to he comes just to hear it alive.
Now that i have 25 ,and his the 2cond time the show is canceled here in my country (First time in 2007 for internal problems with the local production people i think) . Well i start ti thinking this is like the Sad Santa Claus Story is not comming to town .
The sad part is that i keep waiting a 3thid and maybe a 4 time even if they said is comming.
So get wheel soon Alice and if u really have interest in comming here to play , please make that promise real.

That would have been the last time he had to cancel, way back in August 1980, Flush the Fashion tour, I believe it was an attack of bronchial pneumonia.
In the 80's there was a Canadian show cancelled and it caused a riot. But Alice doesn't remember that because he was too drunk to do a show or remember. But no matter. He's a trooper and has to be in pretty bad shape to cancel a show. Glad he's feeling better.
