Blog : No More Mr Nice Blog - Poison??

As many of you know, Alice Cooper was forced to cancel his first show in 30 years last night! Alice got food poisoning somewhere on our trip between Phoenix, Mexico City and Santiago. We had a long layover in Mexico City, where he was feeling fine. Once we were on the plane to Santiago after an 8 hour layover in Mexico City, Alice started to feel ill. He didn't sleep the entire flight, so naturally when we arrived in Santiago he was feeling fairly zombieish. He was unable to sleep at the hotel all day, even after a visit from local Dr. Phillips (who I heard as Dr Feelgood as he introduced himself!). We got him on some medication and put him to bed, which is where he stayed until this morning.
I spoke with him a little bit ago, and he is feeling almost 100% better, though he is still pretty weak, which confirms that it was food poisoning and not some bug.
Naturally Alice HATES to cancel shows, and let me tell you he agonized over the decision for hours. In the end, he was simply too weak to get out of bed, much less do a 90 minute, high energy show.
As I went to bed last night, I thought about the fact that Alice hadn't cancelled a show due to illness in 30 years... That's about as long as I've been ALIVE! How many people can say they haven't taken a sick day in 30 years?? Pretty impressive.
At any rate, Alice is feeling better, we're on our way and he is looking forward to the show in Buenos Aires, Argentina tomorrow!

Well, I guess I haven't taken a night off, ever. Even when I'm portraying the Rock God known as Alice Cooper!
I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT ALICE'S MUSIC WAS THE MOST CREATIVE OF IT'S TIME. HE MUST HAVE STUDIED THEATRE AT ONE TIME. SAW HIM AT THE FAIRGROUNDS IN DAVENPORT IOWA. WHAT A COOL ASS SHOW HE PUT ON. I JUST TURNED 57 YESTERDAY AND I STILL REMEMBER STANDING IN MY LIVING ROOM AT 18 YEARS OLD SINGING "I'M 18" AND I LIKE IT. ONE OF MY MOST VIVID MEMORIES FROM MY TEENS. IT WAS A DREAM COME TRUE TO FINALLY SEE HIM IN CONCERT. AND YES LINES HAVE FORMED ON MY FACE AND MY HANDS TOO! UNAVOIDABLE I'M THINKING. I THINK THESE POST ARE REALLY OLD BUT STAY WELL ALICE SO I HAVE A CHANCE TO SEE YOU AGAIN. ONE MORE THING ALICES MUSIC WAS THE KIND THAT COULD FORM IMAGES IN YOUR MIND AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON. Can't wait to watch Alice again... The last time I saw him was in Toronto in 2004 with Edgar Winter's White Trash opening for him. The concert was easily one of the best that I've ever been to....
He's touring New Zealand again... This time a hop skip and jump away from my home in Waitakere, Auckland... There is absolutely no reason to miss him doing the Nightmare again... especially with some of the old band on the nightmare wagon!!

Yeah. Take a look at the tour dates and try to make it yourself. I live in moscow and it looks like it's about 40 shows to go. There probably will appear some more dates. So i am 25 and i'm not really sure i could survive it. So watch your words folks!

I just wonder how can anyone can be inpresed with this kind of performance/show with blood, death, dead heads, black, darkness and similar stupidities can be also seen in ACDC, KISS, Black Sabath, Led Zepelin..etc.....what is happening in souls of that people, probbaly some mess..for Alice Cooper and other singers, sure, this is a good way how to sell fog and earn money for nothing..think about it..
STRega, that show was at the Toronto Exhibition, in 1978 by the way....
My kids saw him just a couple of weeks ago here in Sudbury, ON...they were SO freakin impressed, they LOVED it...Thanks for all the years of bringin old school rock to those of us who really appreciate it.....

Alice Cooper gave Argentina the best concert of all, was incredible how powerful the band sounded, he kicked a lot of metal bands doing a concert. I have seen him on The Monster of Rock in 1995 and this concert blew up my head,

Alice, you were the first live concert I ever went to, and my parents put me in juvenile hall for it the next day for being "incorrigible" because they'd forbidden me to go! I was 15-1/2 at the time in Feb 1972, I raced out the front door to my brother waiting in his car, and you put on an amazing show at Berkeley Community Theater (I've seen your shows ever since). My parents loved your music, but didn't want their "little girl" exposed to the "dangers" of going to a rock concert - ironic, since juvenile hall scared the heck outta me! I'm locked up with "menaces to society" asking me "What are you in for?" "I went to an Alice Cooper concert..." YOUR concert "dangerous"? Heck, you're the one that got hanged! Holy cow, it's gonna be 40 years since then in 9 months! And you rock as hard, look and sound as great, and give your fans as amazing a show now as you did then! Hope you're feeling better. P.S. My mom went to see the Who with us the following year, bless her heart.
hello Mr Cooper- Just came back from your show in Chacarita in Buenos Aires. Chacarita in case you don't know is one of the biggest graveyards in the city! i live here but am English. anyway i just wanted to thank you for a GREAT GREAT night. I have been a fan since i was 14 more or less and it was GREAT!!!!!! And all the people here LOVED it they were going bananas. Please keep up the good work.

Man I am so glad to hear he is doing well....I"m amazed at how this man has lived through alcoholism (which almost killed him several times) and has not been sick ever since in 30 yrs....I thanks Sheryl for being there and having a truly careing heart...most women would have left him the way he was back then....the 1st time I ever seen him was at age 17 and i am 56 now.....lol.....he was stumbling everywhere,very thin and sickly looking...but look at him now.Thanks you Sheryl for being the one to help him come back strong.....I love you both!!!

I know what a terribly difficult decision it had to have been to cancel your show. That's just not part of you. No one is superman, that's right...not even YOU. Food poisoning...well **** happens. All of us should jumping for joy for the way you work your sweet *** off for us every time you get up on that stage. You lift us up to a higher place. You can't help accidents or illness. I just spent a week in the hospital from a Brown Recluse Spider Bite. It was hell. But that's what life is like. Rest as much as you can. Pace yourself if possible, & know we all love you out here, & just hope you feel like your ole self ASAP. God Bless, Take Care. Cindy

Alice has been an important thread in my life since the very first time I heard his first song. His music, persona, and showmanship has seen me through some really rough times in my life. He allowed me to "escape". When I first heard he was sick, it scared me. He is so magnanimous that sometimes we forget he is only human. To Alice: I wish you well.... and thank you for all you do to keep us all happy. I know you have sacraficed many things in your lilfe to do so. I bet that 100 years from now... people will still know who the Great Alice Cooper is! Your mark will be eternal!
