Blog Post : Alice Cooper Reacts To Hall Of Fame Nomination
"On behalf of Dennis (Dunaway), Neal (Smith), Michael (Bruce) and the late great Glen (Buxton), we are honored to be nominated for induction in to the Hall. Anytime you are nominated in your chosen profession, it's definitely a compliment to be recognized.
It's hard to fathom possibly being in the same club as artists who inspired us originally, like the Beatles, the Stones, the Beach Boys, the Who, the Yardbirds, and Chuck Berry, and to be nominated the same year as legendary artists like my personal favorite songwriter of all time, Laura Nyro, as well as Donovan, who sang on our "Billion Dollar Babies" record, and our good friends in Bon Jovi, is a great feeling.
Five guys starting a band, just hoping to meet girls and drink free beer, rehearsing and playing local bars five hours a night for the first few years -- that was us. We came up with the theatrics and made every effort not to sacrifice the music one bit; we thought it was like our job to bring theatrics to rock 'n' roll. And then, amazingly enough, we were having a bunch of massive hit records which was proof that theatricality and rock 'n' roll could, in fact, be joined successfully. We've been told that we revolutionized the live concert experience and if that's truly the case and it's led to this nomination for induction into the Hall of Fame, the only thing to say is, of course, "There's no business like show business!" - Alice Cooper

About ****** time they let him in to that Hall of Fame.... He's Alice Cooper! Man, about ****** time....
Man it's great you got nominated, But why didn't you get Induckted. I mean the "Beasty Boys" really. Who in the hell ever said "Boy when I make it famous I want to sound just like the Beasty Boys". I mean the Chili Peppers, and G&R, are alright but would be knowhere if it wasn,t for you paveing the way. Like I said to the R&R hall of Fame, "Your pissing off alot of old R&Rers and don't be suppriesed if you go to work some time and get a wake up call. I hope thats not incriminating!
Oh and by the way what's your handi cap? Bet I could beat ya!!!
I've listening to your music for a LOT of years...had Welcome to My Nightmare in the pink 8-track version... This nomination is YEARS overdue! Thank you, Alice, for many years of great music, hope for many more!!!
About. Damn. Time.
Kiss, Marilyn Manson, even Lady Gaga, owe it all to you for showing the way. You and your band were pioneers in rock theatricality. All while putting out consistently great music. When Bob Dylan says your one of the most talented song-writers in rock, you know you must be doing something right!
Thanks for the years of entertainment and great music.
i am your biggest fan i've watch him since i was four. i'm going to see alice in Buffalo next month i'm so excited.![]()
congrats on the alice cooper groups nomination to the hall of fame !!! the original band has always been one of my favs,,,luved the early solo stuff too but the original bands was a special time,,,question to alice,,,,with the recent reunion of van halen which was a huge success,,wouldnt it be cool to put the ORIGINAL band back together ??? i realize without glen,,that might be a problem,,but maybe with someone like dick wagner or another great player it would work,,,now that would be a show like no other,,,were not getting any younger guys,,,its time !!! LETS DO IT !!!!
Seriously I thought you were already in the hall of fame - I guess I have been out of the picture for a while - Alice has to be in the top 5 entertainers of all time and I mean ALL entertainers. Oh the stories I could tell you – Alice in the car’s 8 track and the speakers a rocking – oh ya
Congratulations !! Well deserved . Long Overdue.
Grew up absolutely amazed at hit after hit, album after album of some of the very best my era of rock music had to offer in Alice Cooper. The production of the albums and their music was unbelieveable, simply put. The guitar riffs with such clarity and precision were unrivaled till I arrived at Thin Lizzy. Never understood why Alice and Co. were not considered the very top shelf of rock. The boa, the blood and beheading must have been too much for some, but I always saw it as exactly what it is, The Show! And a great show at that. Thank you Alice and band for some of my very best memories as a young man. I always seem to relate to the words and the music was "headphone good"! Congrats on HOF induction that was long, long overdue! ROCK ON!
Congrats, Alice! You certainly deserve this!!!
I saw you in Long Island whenthey still had arena seating.
My friend Joe's father grew up with the guy who owned Concert's East so we were able to get in for free.
We went to the back where they had this massive aluminum door and it ipened.
There were massive roadies and we had these passes that we had to show.
Cables were everywhere, like huge snakes. They shoved us through to stage left so fast that it was a blur, but fun all the same.
Sitting on the floor in the middle of the arena was great, you could get up and dance and move around-none of the daneing in your seat stuff.
You did a fantastic "Ballad of Dwight Frye".
Thanks so much Alice for being an integral part of my youth.
All i can say is ......ABOUT F'ING TIME!!!!..Congrats guys..only wish G.B. was here to enjoy it also..
GOOD ON YOU*** TOO COOL FOR SKOOL ALICE* you so deserve this*

Congrats on the Hall of Fame, I must say how moved I was by your performance on the Tonight Show w Dweezel Zappa on Jimmy Hendrix's guitar!!! Alice was in excellent form, and Dweezel's guitar playing is so good I had no idea. Got some tears on that one it moved me so.
Keep on Trucking Alice
With Love & Respect
Rick

Wonderful news, congratulations!
Will Alice be playing a show in New York?
The Alice Cooper Band has been way long over due for this induction and am so completely happy for Alice,Bruce,Glen,Micheal and Neal!!! I'm a life long fan...been to countless concerts...even took my kids to see you! My oldest daughter jokingly calls Alice my daddy! I even had the great blessing of having my wedding on the same night as Psycho Drama Tour where Alice bent down and sang Woman of Mass Distraction to me! Through out my life...the good and the bad Alice Cooper has ALWAYS BEEN THERE!!! THANK YOU ALICE!!!! AND COGRATULATIONS!!!!
BEEN LISTENING TO ALICE SINCE I WAS 16, AM NOW 52. WENT TO A CONCERT AT THE MAJESTIC THEATER IN SAN ANTONIO, TX(88 - 90, CAN'T REMEMBER - JUST THAT MY OLDEST SON WAS 11 OR 12). HAD BEEN SICK BUT DIDN'T REALIZE HOW BAD UNTIL HALFWAY THROUGH THE CONCERT PEOPLE STANDING UP LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE FALLING FORWARD. THE CONCERT WAS 3/4'S OVER - I WANTED TO STAY BUT MY HUSBAND INSISTED WE GO. OUTSIDE IN THE FRONT OF THEATER WAS A CORNER AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I GOT SICK. I LOOK UP AND PULLING UP TO THE CURB IS A LIMO. ALL I COULD THINK OF WAS THEY WERE THINKING, 'OH LOOK AT THAT - SOMEONE PARTYING TOO MUCH AT ALICES' SHOW". I ENDED UP HAVING THE ASIAN FLU BUT I'D OF DONE IT ALL OVER AGAIN FOR ALICE. WAY TO GO MR. COOPER - YOU HAVE CERTAINLY EARNED YOUR DUE REWARDS. YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!
Congrats! My favorite album will always be the first! I remember seeing the band in Miami in the early 70's, took alot of really nice pics and when I got them developed...they stole them...bummer!! Of course, back then, you had to get them developed...but at least they could of made copies for themselves and given me a set...Anyways, Alice, I love your radio show!
Vince,
If you'd never done another tune, Generation Landslide alone should have made you a "shoe in". Congratulations!
An aside, your work, outrageous presentation innovation yet connectivity to real music stands out so far from "I can beat a guitar so listen up" scribbler/musicians. Thanks for all you've done, heroic, really.
Congratulations on the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Just a note if Alice gets this?!?! My 4 year old son has become a real fan, we have "The Muppet Show," on DVD when alice appeared on the show and my son loved the song, "Welcome to my Nightmare." He has speech delay and it made him sing. How do i get in contact with Alice?!?! Love Charlie's Mom and a Real Fan!!!
NEVER STOP MAKING NEW MUSIC AND NEVER STOP TOURING, DONT WORRY IF YOU DONT COME TO ATL. GA. I'LL COME TO YOU
It just really, really pisses me off that another 4-man band that starts with 'A', from Boston that sold out was in the Rock hall before Alice....The credibility is pretty shaky...
I've seen Alice many times out West, from Spokane to Anahiem.
Congrats Alice and all!
Alice's fans may not know that he is a great Ambassador for the USA. Alice came to Vladivostok, Russia and was gracious enough to allow the US Consulate to host a Public Diplomacy event in his honor. We invited 100 Russian artists, musicians, and friends to the Consulate and Alice hobnobbed and even listened to a local youth rock band perform. He was a truly great representative of American creativity, energy and talent, and of course the concert was terrific. As the American Consul General at the time, I was very appreciative. Now, as a recruiter for the State Department I often tell future diplomats that our Russian staff was afraid we couldn't pull off a reception for a world famous rock star. I said, 'if he is anything like that guy in Wayne's World, all we need is hot dogs and hamburgers and it will be great.' I was right. It was great! A Hall of Famer indeed and now he is great for State Department recruitment as well.
Wow...after all these years....and all the stuff I had to take for being a Cooper fan...People just don't know...Good for you Vince, and all those involved...Cooper should of had this a long time ago!!!!
I just resantly learned of you struggles with drinking, I myself wish I never picked it up. I tell myself that I can handle it, I am ok, I don't need it. I fould your story insperational, I will never have the pressures that you might, but I understand. I am following your younger days footsteps, Thanks for sharing your story. I will loose my wife, my job, my savings, and any friends that I might earn. Thanks I hope you are finding love with in yourself, Thank you

I did not know that glen had passed away sorry to hear that.
Im a big fan of alice cooper ever since the 70"s
This should have been done 30 years ago! Better late than never to honor the Master of Shock Rock...Long Live Evil Alice!
Alice Cooper Band Build a path for Rock N Roll that was never been done by any band at that time. They were not afraid or too much on boose to be as natural. Remember that time from 69 to 74. Almost 2 Album per years . That band is full of creativity. That's why I will Always Remember the Coop.
But it is a sadness that Glen Bluxton is not there to feel the night that you all are gonna be introduce to RNR Hall of Fame.
Hope the original member will performed at least for one more night !
Tale Estaban
Congratulations Alice! You have deserved this for a long time.
I've been a fan since 1971. Should have been inducted when first eligible back in what? 1995. Even if it doesn't happen this time, it truly has to be inevitable eventually.
well congrats alice cooper band ive been a fan for over 40yrs and my dad would not let me see the billion dollor babies tour here in st.louis you didnt come to st. louis for the muscel of love tour and i never got to see the original band. alice ive seen you ever sence the welcome to mynightmare tour and never dissapointed. i never got a chance to meet you close once but security would not let you. so once again congratulations and thanks for the music its brought great pleasure and lifted me up when i was down thanks really i understood the show and music. is it true your getting back with the original band for a new record called welcome to my nighmare II oh please be true thanks for all the music and performences alice thanks alot from a fan for many years
Alice, this year you disappointed my son. We have been watching your tour date schedule for months in the hopes you would play New Jersey again. Imagine Jason's disappointment when, even until today, we saw nothing listed for our area. Last year, I scraped up the money (even paid my rent late) so that Jason, his sister Jaclyn and I could come and see you play. I've been a fan for 35 years and it was my first time as well. My kids never stopped thanking me. Jason said I was the best mother. Thank you for that. Please come back to our area again. Jason is only 8 but music is his life. He has learned your songs on his guitar and listens to your music daily. He is a true fan. Come back.
Hi
It's time is past but Im glad its happened,
ALICE !! PLEASE COME BACK TO NEWFOUNDLAND CANADA... WE MISS YOU THE MOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just found out! Holy cow! Its about time, but as far as I'm concerned, they are about 15 years too late. I think it was one or two years ago when Kiss got nominated. If they had the audacity to nominate Kiss before you guys, then I knew the Rock Hall had lost any of its credibility. They even nominated Madonna before you guys. It is nothing personal against Kiss and Madonna, but you guys are a much more important band to Rock history. So, despite the fact they are a bunch of corporate sell outs to Rolling Stone magazine, I am happy that you are accepting this nomination from the Rock Hall graciously. And for anyone who may be reading this....Heaven or Hell when you die...see Bible for details...I would like to think Alice would agree! :)
It's about friggin' time! Alice Cooper should have been inducted years ago!
I never heard of any bands music when I teenager in Cherry Creek Jr. High. But the word of mouth of the stories of Alice at the time, I had to buy a record, it was KILLER! Just LOVE Alice! Bought all records up to School's Out. Then change to cassettes due scratches on LP's from Billion Dollar Babies to Hey Stoopid! Finally I went cd format after that, NO QUESTION, I buy any product of ALICE COOPER! Best concert of Alice was @ FORT BRAGG! I was real close to the Master of Theater! Keep it Up Alice!
Alice you are great! I love you! Silver Venice Italy rock'n'fuckin roll!
Well done Alice. You were able to provide us with radical yet tasteful fun. You stand alone.
