News : Alice Cooper tops Metal Photographer Jeremy Saffer's 10 Favorite Shots of the Year
Alice Cooper's shoot with Jeremy Saffer clocked in at #1 on his list of favorite shoots in 2011, producing his best shot of the year. He explains below...
"As a photographer, IMAGE is everything, despite what sprite may tell you. Being a fan of horror, and of bands with a strong image, the godfather of it all is Alice Cooper. He created something so iconic and legendary, it will always be a staple in the history of rock 'n' roll. This year I got an assignment to shoot Alice, and an opportunity like that, to me, is on par with a lingerie model getting a modeling gig for Victoria's Secret.
I had a plan to shoot using his props, which are many. We used an electric chair, guillotine, his canes, different jackets, but then he took out the snake, and it happened. For some reason the snake just looked right at the camera and by some luck I had the shutter go off the very second the snake stuck his tongue out. The Light set is two rims and a beauty dish boomed down above him using the 24-70 lens at F13. Oddly enough, the original version of this shot is a full body one. I cropped in for this and it is, to me, what one would expect from an Alice Cooper photo, and that is all I could have ever hoped to create working with such a legend. This was my shoot of the year, and something I got to cross off my photographic bucket list."
Also in the top 5 were Robert Englund, famous for his long time roll as Freddy Kreuger (in "<A Nightmare on Elm Street 6: Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" Alice plays his abusive father); and Biersack of the Black Veil Brides, one of Alice's favorite upcoming bands of the last few years.

I'm with ya, man!
I'm running hard to keep my Boas and Pythons from becoming 'contraband'.
Everyone needs to watch this video and see WHY the 'law' is bogus!

Mr. Cooper...
So whats you're take on the new addition to the Lacey act... making it illegal to cross state lines with some pythons?
Being that you have always been a big fan of them, you might think of using you're fame to bring a little sense to the powers that be.

Okay. When I was 16 (1973) Alice was my major rebellion. I adore Alice. Anyway back to my rebellion. That is until my folks saw him playing golf on the news. How can I rebel when my folks now think Alice is a wonderful hug.Urggggg. I'm shaking my index finger at you Alice.
This is a great shot! I got to see Alice and the yellow Python in 2005 and thought that was the best. I was wrong. On Dec. 10 in Erie, PA I watched him and the dark Python and it was captivaiting..like a dance, they were so insync with each other. It way amazing and I will never forget it.
Thanks for being you Alice
Thanks for the great Photo!
